Wednesday May 06, 2020
Wednesday May 06, 2020
JKYog extends Mother's Day greetings to all with a special "Happy Mother's Day" audio message by Swami Mukundananda and dedicated to all the wonderful mothers! Mothers have the exceptional privilege to partner God in bringing forth life and nurturing it with love. A mother's unconditional love and devotion is incomparable to any other kind of love in this material realm. Even before birth, our mother provides us with our first experience of nurturing. Our cells divided and grew to the beat of her heart. Subsequently, she toiled in raising us while pouring all the affection in her heart. This could not be done by anyone else. Mother's give up so much so that her children can have so much without any condition! Giving us our first lessons in ethics is also an expression of her love. Of all her many qualities, the most special is a mother's heart endowed with tenderness and toughness, compassion and sincerity. To every mother, her child is the prettiest child in the world. On Mother's Day, we reciprocate our mother's love by nurturing the sentiments - my mother is the dearest sweetest angel and a tower of strength when I need it. Mother, you gave me life and you nurtured it with your unconditional love. Thank you, Mom! We will always be grateful for the life lessons we have learned in your lap. There is yet another mother who has nurtured us lifetime after lifetime; and that is God; who takes on the form of the mother of the universe: Mother Parvati, Mother Sita, Mother Durga and Mother Radha. She has been waiting since innumerable lifetimes for her child to turn around from the worldly allurements. When we see that our bodily mother's love is so beautiful; how much deeper will be the love of the divine mother. Today on Mother's day, I offer my obeisance to your lotus feet, O my Divine mother of the universe! with the utmost reverence devotion and gratitude that my heart can muster. O Radha Rani, please bless me with a drop of the devotion that you possess for the supreme father Lord Krishna. Please hold my hand and engage me in loving devotion to my supreme father.

Wednesday Apr 15, 2020
Wednesday Apr 15, 2020
Listen to Swami Mukundananda, an IIT and IIM alumnus, discuss the difference between religion and spirituality. While answering Parth Mehta a Software Developer question "What is the difference between being religious and spiritual?", Swamiji gives various examples and quotes various prophets and saints from Jesus Christ to Prophet Mohammad; from Guru Nanak to Saint Kabir. He also quotes Shrimad Bhagavat Mahapuran and Ved Vyas and says, "You may follow externally form perfectly, but if it does not result in developing attachment to the lotus feet of Lord Krishna, that is a mere waste of time." "To recite prayers in the temple is being religious while to develop a prayerful heart is being spiritual," says Swami Mukundananda. To wear kanthi mala is being religious while to adorn your mind with love for God is being spiritual. Religiosity will please your grandmother or your society. Spirituality will please God. However, Swamiji also says that this is simply a matter of semantics because different words mean different things to different people. At the end, Swamiji reconciles both the aspect and says that the religious practices also have a great importance in society. "They keep the religious tradition alive generations after generations," Says Swami Mukundananda in this podcast.

Ramayana - Lord Rama & The Boatman Kevat Leela | Swami Mukundananda
Wednesday Apr 01, 2020
Wednesday Apr 01, 2020
This narration from the epic Ramayana is called the 'Kevat Samvad' or the Dialogue between Lord Ram & the Boatman - Kevat. Lord Rama with Sita and Lakshmana, while in exile, once had to cross the river Ganga. He approached a boatman, Kevat, for taking them across the river. Kevat wanted to wash Lord Rama's feet before letting them onto his boat. He said, Lord, I have heard that the dust from your feet embraced a stone in the forest and it became a woman. My boat is made of wood and if the dust of your feet fell on my boat, the boat will turn into a woman too. I am unable to take care of any more members in my house so I am requesting you to let me wash your feet and make it dust free before you step onto the boat. Lord Rama appreciated his pure and innocent faith. After that, Kevat ferried Lord Rama, Sita and Lakshmana across the river in his boat. Upon reaching the other side, Sita removed her ring and gave it to Lord Rama for paying the boatman for his service. Kewat however refused to be paid for the work and made such an amazing statement which pleased Lord Rama and he blessed Kevat. Boatman Kevat and his intense devotion to Lord Rama. He says, " Lord Rama and I do the same work"??? Listen to this beautiful clip of innocent faith of a devotee in God.
